MK Bruce Lee #1 (Bruce)

R1,200.00

The very first issue of MK Bruce Lee, published by the now-defunct, Cape Town-based design studio, The President, was co-founded by prolific South African creatives Peet Pienaar and Hannerie Visser.  In print for nearly a decade from the early 200s, MK Bruce Lee was published with two covers per issue, one for girls (Lee) and the other for boys (Bruce), appropriating from the vernacular of the 70s and 80s children’s lucky packets in South Africa. First stocked in Musica stores nationwide, focussing mostly on alternative Afrikaans music culture, the magazine was later stocked at Jay Jays clothing stores before ending print near the end of the naughties. Gaining multiple accolades and awards for The President, Mk Bruce Lee’s experimental magazine format places it within a different category to most other experimental printed media or alternative press in South Africa. The package has been opened, but all the contents remain intact and in good condition.
